10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Celebration

cloverThe Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation is proud to announce the 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Celebration in downtown Jamestown on Saturday, March 13, 2010.

“The celebration turns 10 in 2010 and we are currently working on some special additions to the event,” said Tiffani Conti, DJDC Special Projects Manager. “We have begun to work on some new additions and are very excited to celebrate this annual event.”

Kicking off the day’s activities, families of all ages are welcome to eat breakfast with Jamestown’s own leprechaun at   Lisciandro’s Restaurant starting at 8am on North Main Street. Lisciandro’s will feature their famous green pancakes and other ’green’ dishes for the kids to enjoy, while the leprechaun lingers for pictures.  DJDC is also teaming up with Striders, who will be providing a 5K run/walk during the day.

All businesses, groups, organizations, churches, and families are invited to participate in the annual St. Patrick’s Day   Parade which will line-up at 12pm around Baker Park and will step-off at 1pm.  The parade will travel East on Fourth Street and South on Main Street to Brooklyn Square. Participation in the parade is free of charge.  Following the parade, Jamestown’s Leprechaun will magically turn the Chadakoin River green! Complete the enclosed form to participate.

Family-friendly activities will be held in Brooklyn Square in the JAMA Riverwalk Center parking lot from 12pm-3pm.  DJDC will provide train rides and authentic stagecoach rides for a $1 donation.  Irish dancers will perform following the turning of the river green and the Jamestown Area Medical Associates invite children ages 4-12 years old to participate in the 4th annual JAMA Shamrock Hunt.  Three age groups— 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12 will compete to find the lucky shamrock in a pile of sawdust. One winner from each age group will win a grand prize.

Continue the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration by participating in the first-ever March of the Leprechauns Pub Crawl.  This event is open to anyone 21 years old or older.

“This is a unique addition to our annual celebration and should be a great time for those who participate,” added Conti. “We wanted to find a fun way to celebrate the holiday and incorporate our local businesses with additional foot-traffic.”

Guidelines to participate in the march include— participants must dress like their favorite leprechaun, all leprechauns must have a valid ID, and all leprechauns must ride the motorcoach to and from each establishment. Ticket prices and additional information will be available in early 2010.
