On October 12th and 13th the Downtown Sidewalk Sales & Fall Festival will return to downtown Jamestown. Local businesses and vendors will set up booths along the sidewalks throughout the downtown area and outside community members will be advertising their personal household sales.

On Friday, October 12th, the sidewalk sales will be open from 10:00am until 6:00pm.  The weekly farmer’s market will also be taking place from 10:00am to 4:00pm at 19 W Third Street.

The sidewalk sales will resume at 10:00am on Saturday, October 13th and continue until 2:00pm.

This event will feature overstock items, crafts, food, used furniture and fixtures, signature store items at discount prices, other miscellaneous items businesses, organizations, and other vendors would like to sell, and so much more.

Businesses interested in participating in the sales are requested to sign up with DJDC for advertising purposes.  Any community member/group interested in reserving a space may complete the vendor registration form and contributing a $10.00 donation to DJDC.  Outside vendors may participate by completing the registration form and contributing a $20.00 donation.  All participants will be placed on a map with their locations.

Get a group together and enter the Scarecrow contest that will be taking place during the weekend activities.  Any school, youth organization/facility, neighborhood group, businesses, office groups, friends, family and individuals are eligible to participate.  Everyone is welcome! This contest is an effort to help decorate downtown for the fall season.  Each scarecrow that is submitted into the contest will be on display throughout downtown for the weekend of the festival and then be relocated to the DJDC display window on Third Street. Scarecrows will be judged in three divisions including Business, Organization and Family and two categories including Traditional Harvest Figures and Contemporary Scarecrows.  Those wishing to participate are asked to register with the Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation by completing the entry form on the website or contact the office directly at 664-2477.  The website also offers the complete list of rules and instructions on how to construct a scarecrow.  All finished scarecrows must be submitted to the DJDC office by 5:00pm on Monday, October 8th.

Another exciting event taking place during the fall festival weekend will be Timothy’s 2nd Annual Apple Pie Bake Off.   The bake off will take place from 10:00am until 2:00pm on October 13th at Timothy’s Café.  Avid amateur bakers are invited to enter their homemade pie and a “People’s Choice Award” will be given to the winner.  There will be a $10.00 entry fee that will be redistributed into prizes for the winning pies. Support local agriculture by purchasing your apples for your dessert at the weekly farmers market at 19 W Third Street every Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.  Participants are asked to register at Timothy’s Café in Jamestown at 106 E Third Street.  For more information contact Tim Mills at 484-8904.

Other activities during the weekend include the Accepted Mason of the State of New York Child Identification Program (NY CHIP), horse and carriage rides throughout downtown, petting zoo, and a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning to benefit the festival.

The Busti Cider Mill and Farm Market will operate on Friday from 10:00-4:00pm during the regular farmers market and will return to Third Street on Saturday from 10:00-2:00pm for the festival.  Busti Cider Mill offers the most fresh, homegrown produce, fresh flowers, baked goods, and much more!
