The Kraft Food Company has recently announced that the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile will be making a visit to Jamestown for the 2008 13-Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series
The weinermobile will arrive in Jamestown on August 15th and will participate in the World Series parade on August 16th. The vehicle will then be at Diethrick Park until Wednesday August 20th.
The weinermobile is 11 feet high and 27 feet long and weighs 14,050 lbs, or the equivalent of 140,500 hot dogs. It was first designed by Carl Mayer, the nephew of Oscar Mayer, in 1936 to travel the streets of Chicago, to advertise the Oscar Mayer hot dogs.
There have been many different versions of the weinermobile over the last 70 years and the latest version, which has a V-8 engine, was built in 2004.
